Cannot Complete Step

Apr 15, 2023

Can't complete your step? Pipeline gives you 3 options on what to do next.

Put step On-Hold

Use Put step On-Hold, if you cannot complete this step at the present time. Typical examples include:

  • You're going on vacation
  • You're waiting for a specific date to pass, ex: you only launch marketing campaigns on Mondays
  • You're waiting for a event to occur, ex: you're waiting for corporate announcement

Simply enter the reason for why the step needs to go On-Hold.

Once submitted, the new On-Hold step will inserted above the original with you as the step owner.

When you're ready, complete the On-Hold step to resume the original step.

Kick back to previous step

Use Kick back to the previous step if you're missing information from someone upstream. Typical examples include:

  • Key document(s) are missing
  • Key form field(s) are blank

Enter what's missing so that the previous step owner can provide the critical data.

Insert a new step

Use Insert new step if someone new has to brought in before you can complete your step. Typical examples include:

  • A new person has to provide media assets
  • A new stakeholder has to review the draft
  • A new customer contact has to sign off the project

In this scenario, you need to enter the new step name, step owner, and instructions for what you need them to do.

Once submitted, the new step will inserted above the original, and the new step owner will be automatically notified to take action.
